Make a mixtape for Dad
Dads are hard to shop for and easy to make a tape for. He has been playing you music your whole life, most of it in the car, some of it loud. This is the tape back.
When
Father's Day, his birthday, or a random Tuesday when a song reminded you of him.
What to put on it
- ♪The song he always turned up. You know the one.
- ♪The first song of his you admitted you liked.
- ♪A song you found on your own that you think he'd love. Tell him why.
- ♪The song that reminds you of a specific drive, trip or kitchen. Name the place in the note.
The letter
Keep it plain. One memory, one thank-you, one thing you never said out loud. That's a whole J-card.
How it works
- 1. Name the tape. “For Dad.” “Road trip ’26.” “Songs I couldn’t say out loud.” The title is the cover, so say what it is.
- 2. Add the songs, up to 20. Search any song, tap to add. Write a liner note on each one if you want: why this song, why them, why now. The notes are the gift.
- 3. Write the letter. Every tape has a J-card, the fold-out card in a cassette case. Yours holds a letter only they will read, in your words, signed by you.
- 4. Flip it to a secret link and send. One link, sendable by text, email, or carrier pigeon screenshot. It is never on your profile and search engines cannot find it. Only the person holding the link can open it.
They open it like a letter: your title, your note, then the songs in your order. Every track plays a 30-second preview, and one tap opens it in their own player. No app, no account needed to listen. When they're done they can send a thanks back, or make you a whole tape in return.
He will play it more than once. He won't tell you that.
Start this tape, always freeAbout ten minutes. No app to install.
