Make a mixtape for Mom

She sang it wrong in the kitchen and you still know her version better than the real one. A tape for Mom is less about taste and more about receipts: here is what you noticed, here is what stuck.

When

Mother's Day, her birthday, the week you moved out, or the week she needed cheering up.

What to put on it

  • ♪The song she sang while cooking, the way she sang it.
  • ♪The song she played when she needed a lift. She has one.
  • ♪Something from your life now that she hasn't heard yet. Tell her the story.
  • ♪The song from a day you both remember. Put the day in the note.

The letter

Mothers keep letters. Write one worth keeping: what she did that you only understood later.

How it works

  1. 1. Name the tape. “For Dad.” “Road trip ’26.” “Songs I couldn’t say out loud.” The title is the cover, so say what it is.
  2. 2. Add the songs, up to 20. Search any song, tap to add. Write a liner note on each one if you want: why this song, why them, why now. The notes are the gift.
  3. 3. Write the letter. Every tape has a J-card, the fold-out card in a cassette case. Yours holds a letter only they will read, in your words, signed by you.
  4. 4. Flip it to a secret link and send. One link, sendable by text, email, or carrier pigeon screenshot. It is never on your profile and search engines cannot find it. Only the person holding the link can open it.

They open it like a letter: your title, your note, then the songs in your order. Every track plays a 30-second preview, and one tap opens it in their own player. No app, no account needed to listen. When they're done they can send a thanks back, or make you a whole tape in return.

This is the one she forwards to her sisters.
